Azeetop 500 mg

Product Description
Azeetop 500 mg is an antibiotic belonging to the macrolide class. It contains Azithromycin 500 mg. It is used to treat a wide range of bacterial infections, including respiratory tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, ear infections, sexually transmitted infections (chlamydia, gonorrhea), and certain types of stomach ulcers (in combination with other medicines).

Dosage and Administration

Recommended Dosage for Adults:

 
 
Infection Dosage
Respiratory tract infections 500 mg once daily for 3 days
Chlamydia / Sexually transmitted infections 1 g (1000 mg) as a single dose
Skin and soft tissue infections 500 mg on Day 1, then 250 mg daily for 4 days
Other infections As prescribed by your doctor
  • Take the tablet once daily.
  • Swallow the tablet whole with a full glass of water.
  • You can take it with or without food. Taking it with food may reduce stomach upset.

Important:
Complete the full course of treatment as prescribed by your doctor, even if you feel better. Stopping early may cause the infection to return or lead to antibiotic resistance.

Important Information

Do NOT take Azeetop 500 mg if you:

  • Are allergic to Azithromycin, Erythromycin, or any macrolide antibiotics
  • Have a history of severe liver problems caused by azithromycin
  • Are taking medicines such as ergotamine or dihydroergotamine

Warnings and Precautions

  • Tell your doctor if you have liver or kidney problems, heart rhythm disorders (arrhythmia), or myasthenia gravis.
  • Azithromycin may increase the risk of irregular heartbeat in some patients.
  • If you experience severe diarrhea (even weeks after stopping the medicine), contact your doctor immediately — this may be a sign of Clostridium difficile infection.
  • Use additional contraception if you are taking birth control pills, as effectiveness may be reduced.

Common Side Effects

  • Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea
  • Stomach pain or indigestion
  • Headache
  • Dizziness
  • Fatigue

Serious Side Effects (seek medical help immediately):

  • Severe allergic reaction (rash, swelling, difficulty breathing)
  • Severe or bloody diarrhea
  • Liver problems (yellow skin, dark urine, fatigue)
  • Irregular heartbeat or chest pain
  • Hearing changes or ringing in the ears

Storage

  • Store below 25°C (77°F)
  • Keep in the original blister pack
  • Protect from moisture and heat
  • Keep out of reach of children

Important Note
Azeetop 500 mg is an antibiotic and works only against bacterial infections. It is not effective against viral infections such as the common cold, flu, or COVID-19.
