Important Information Before You Start
Telmaheal 80 mg is a prescription medicine used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension).
It helps lower blood pressure and reduces the risk of heart attack, stroke, and kidney problems.
Do not stop taking this medicine suddenly without talking to your doctor, as your blood pressure may rise again.
What Telmaheal 80 mg is used for
- Treatment of essential hypertension (high blood pressure)
- Reduction of cardiovascular risk in adults over 55 years with:
- Heart disease
- Type 2 diabetes with organ damage
- High risk of heart attack or stroke
How to Take Telmaheal 80 mg
- Take one tablet once daily.
- You can take it with or without food.
- Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew it.
- Try to take it at the same time every day.
Recommended Dose:
- Usual starting dose: 40 mg once daily.
- For most patients, the doctor may increase to 80 mg once daily.
- Maximum dose: 80 mg per day.
Your doctor may adjust the dose based on your blood pressure response.
Possible Side Effects
Common Side Effects:
- Upper respiratory tract infection (cold, sinusitis)
- Back pain
- Diarrhea
- Sinus inflammation
- Dizziness or low blood pressure when standing up
Less Common but Serious Side Effects – Seek medical help immediately if you experience:
- Severe allergic reaction (swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat – angioedema)
- Very low blood pressure (fainting, severe dizziness)
- Kidney problems (reduced urine output, swelling in legs)
- High potassium levels (muscle weakness, irregular heartbeat)
- Liver problems (yellowing of skin or eyes, dark urine)
Special Warnings
- Pregnancy: Do not take Telmaheal if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant. It can cause serious harm or death to the unborn baby, especially in the second and third trimester.
- Breastfeeding: Not recommended. Talk to your doctor.
- Kidney or Liver Disease: Use with caution. Your doctor will monitor you closely.
- Diabetes: If you have diabetes and take other blood pressure medicines (like ramipril or aliskiren), this combination may not be suitable.
- Dehydration: Drink enough fluids. Dehydration from vomiting, diarrhea, or low fluid intake can cause a sudden drop in blood pressure.
- Avoid potassium supplements or salt substitutes containing potassium unless advised by your doctor.
Monitoring During Treatment
