Product Description
Tamoxican 20 mg contains Tamoxifen Citrate, a selective estrogen receptor modulator (SERM). It is primarily used in the treatment and prevention of hormone receptor-positive breast cancer in both men and women. It works by blocking the effects of estrogen in breast tissue, which helps slow or stop the growth of cancer cells that require estrogen to grow.

Dosage and Administration

Recommended Dose:

• The usual dose is one tablet (20 mg) once daily.
• It can be taken in the morning or evening, with or without food.
• Swallow the tablet whole with a full glass of water.
• Do not crush, chew, or split the tablet.

Duration of Treatment:

• For breast cancer treatment, Tamoxifen is often taken for 5 to 10 years, or as prescribed by your oncologist.
• Never stop taking the medicine without consulting your doctor.

Important Information

Do NOT take Tamoxican 20 mg if you:

• Are allergic to Tamoxifen
• Are pregnant or planning to become pregnant (it can harm the unborn baby)
• Are breastfeeding
• Have a history of blood clots, deep vein thrombosis (DVT), or pulmonary embolism
• Are taking medicines like warfarin (blood thinner) without close medical supervision

Warnings and Precautions

• Tamoxifen increases the risk of blood clots, stroke, and uterine (endometrial) cancer.
• Regular medical check-ups, including pelvic examinations and eye exams, are important during long-term use.
• Inform your doctor if you have liver disease, high cholesterol, or a history of blood clots.
• Use reliable non-hormonal birth control during treatment and for 2 months after stopping.
• Report any unusual vaginal bleeding, leg pain/swelling, chest pain, or shortness of breath immediately.

Common Side Effects

• Hot flashes
• Vaginal discharge or bleeding
• Nausea
• Fatigue
• Mood changes
• Leg cramps
• Weight gain

Serious Side Effects (Seek immediate medical help):

• Signs of blood clot (chest pain, shortness of breath, leg swelling/pain)
• Sudden weakness on one side of the body, vision problems (signs of stroke)
• Unusual vaginal bleeding
• Severe liver problems (yellowing of skin/eyes, dark urine)

Storage

• Store below 25°C (77°F) in a cool, dry place
• Keep in the original blister pack
• Protect from light and moisture
• Keep out of reach of children

Important Note
Tamoxican 20 mg is a potent anti-cancer medication. It must be used strictly under the supervision of an oncologist. Regular blood tests and medical monitoring are essential during treatment.
